A Bucks County man is headed to the 2016 summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, as a member of the United States cycling team.

A Bucks County man is headed to the 2016 summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, as a member of the United States cycling team.
Matt Baranoski, 22, of Perkasie will compete in the men’s keirin competition. Keirin is a racing event in which cyclists ride laps around an indoor track behind a motorized pacesetter followed by a sprint at the finish.
Baranoski has eight national titles, according to the Team USA website. He finished fifth in sprint and eighth in keirin at the 2015 Pan American Games. He became the youngest USA Cycling Elite National Champion to date, earning the title at age 17.

The 2011 Pennridge High School graduate attends Penn State, where he is scheduled to earn a degree in electrical engineering this year, according to his bio.
Baranoski, who is awaiting approval from the U.S. Olympic Committee, will turn 23 just nine days before the Opening Ceremony in Rio, his bio says.
