3 Charged With Assault Of Elderly Woman In Bensalem

BENSALEM, PA — Three people have been charged in connection with an assault and robbery of an elderly Bensalem woman, authorities said Friday.

Brittany Kladky, Jewett Bowman and Emily Smith were arraigned and charged after video surfaced of suspects abusing the woman, Bensalem Police said.

The investigation began June 12, when police viewed a video recorded by an unknown person. The video showed a woman in her 20s punching the victim in the face several times and demanding money, while reaching into the victim's pocket. Police notified Pennsylvania Adult Protective Services and obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect, later identified as Kladky, a Bristol resident.

While following up the investigation with a PA Adult Protective Services Agent, Bensalem Police were provided with two additional videos that depicted the same elderly victim being abused. Police identified the individuals in the video as Bowman and Smith, both of Bensalem.

In one video, Smith appears to punch the victim in the face and kick her after she fell to the ground, police said. Also on video, Bowman appears to point a BB-gun at the elderly victim and fire the weapon four times at her as she lay in her bed, police said.

Smith is charged with simple assault. Bowman is charged with simple assault and possession of an instrument of crime. Kladky is charged with robbery, simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct.

All three have bail set at $350,000 and were taken to Bucks County Correctional Facility.
