Lanes To Close On U.S. 1, Street Road In Bensalem

The closures are for work widening and improving a stretch of U.S. 1 in the township.

BENSALEM, PA — Nighttime lane closures are scheduled for next week on U.S. 1 and Street Road, as well as northbound ramps to and from the turnpike, in Bensalem.

The closures are for construction on a project to rebuild, widen and improve a 1.3-mile section of U.S. 1, PennDOT announced Thursday. The closures are as follows:

  • The ramp from the Pennsylvania Turnpike's Bensalem interchange to northbound U.S. 1 will be closed Sunday, Dec. 8, and Monday, Dec. 9, from 9 p.m.-5 a.m. The closures will be for removal of underside shielding on the new U.S. 1 bridge over the ramp. During those closures, northbound U.S. 1 motorists will be directed to the Neshaminy exit, turn left on Rockhill Drive, turn right on the ramp to southbound U.S. 1 then right on the ramp to the turnpike toll plaza. Turnpike motorists exiting at Bensalem and heading for northbound U.S. 1 will be directed to the ramp to southbound U.S. 1, turn right onto the ramp to eastbound Street Road (Rt. 132) then turn right on the ramp to northbound U.S. 1.
  • Single-lane closures, northbound and southbound, on U.S. 1 between Rockhill Drive and Old Lincoln Highway are scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 8 through Friday, Dec. 13 from 8 p.m.-6 a.m.
  • Single-lane closures, eastbound and westbound, are scheduled periodically for Street Road, between Old Lincoln Highway and Kingston Way, from Sunday, Dec. 8, through Friday, Dec. 13.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and slowdowns are expected to happen.
