PA Turnpike To Close Overnight In Bucks County

The closure will be between the Bensalem and I-95 interchanges in Bensalem and Bristol Township, the turnpike commission says.

BENSALEM, PA — The Pennsylvania Turnpike will be shut down in both directions for about four hours shortly after midnight Saturday in Bensalem and Bristol in Bucks County.

The closure, which is needed so crews can remove bridge beams, is set to start at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday and run through 4 a.m. It will be between the Bensalem interchange (Exit 351) and the I-95 interchange (Exit 40) in Bristol Township.

According to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, the closure is needed for the safety of motorists and workers as crews removes beams in the area. The bridge, which carries U.S. 1 over the turnpike, is at milepost 351.6 in Bucks County.

During the closuree, the Street Road exit ramp (Exit 352) also will be closed. Eastbound traffic will not be able to enter or exit the turnpike from Street Road (Rt. 132).

Pennsylvania State Police and turnpike crews will be in the area to help drivers. Digital message signs also will give information on closures and detours. Motorists are advised to plan accordingly and allow extra time for travel.
