BENSALEM, PA — The new sports book at Parx Casino, part of a $10 million expansion, will be unveiled at a grand opening ceremony on Thursday.

The Bensalem casino has offered sports betting since it was approved in the fall at a temporary sports book. But the state-of-the-art new facility is just now opening to gamblers.

According to the casino, the new sports book will be a 7,400-square-foot space featuring a 156-foot, high-definition media wall that can show up to 36 games at the same time.

It will feature six live tellers, 18 kiosks, 200 seats, three VIP areas and a 38-foot by 14-foot bar with 38 seats and a four-tier light design hanging from above.

The unveiling will take place at 3 p.m. with Parx and local officials. The public is invited to attend.

The grand opening will be just in time for the Philadelphia Eagles' pre-season debut at 7:30 p.m. versus the Tennessee Titans.

Legal sports betting became possible at casinos in states across the nation in May, when the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a longstanding prohibition on the practice in most states.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approved the first licenses for casinos to host sports betting in October. Parx was one of two casinos, along with Penn National Gaming, to receive the board's approval.
