Taney, Mo'ne Davis Fall, 6-5, Dashing Little League World Series Hopes
The Taney Dragons lost to Chicago's Jackie Robinson West during a game Thursday night.

The Taney Dragons and Mo’ne Davis — Philadelphia’s boys (and girl!) of summer — fell to Chicago’s Jackie Robinson West, 6-5, on Thursday night, ending the team’s inspiring Little League World Series run.
Though the loss was of course disappointing, the overwhelming emotion of the evening was pride.
“A great season for @taneybaseball!,” Gov. Tom Corbett Tweeted. “You made all of PA proud!”

Corbett wasn’t alone in his feelings.
“I am PROUD of the Taney Dragons, they are the Champs of Phila AND Pa!!”Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter Tweeted. “Please cheer our children and this team, very special group of kids!”

The impressive effort of the two-year-old Little League team was highlighted by both of Pennsylvania’s senators.
“Great run by @taneybaseball at the #LLWS,” Sen. Pat Toomey Tweeted. “Great effort & fight by the #TaneyDragons throughout the entire tourney.”
“Hold your heads high @taneybaseball, all of Pennsylvania is proud of you!” Sen. Bob Casey Tweeted.
Multiple people on various social media platforms begged Mayor Nutter to throw the Taney Dragons a parade when they get home.
