Altomonte's Celebrates The Birds With Pep Rally ... And Cannolis
Altomonte?s in Doylestown cheered on the Eagles on Saturday with a spirited pep rally featuring $2 pizza slices, green-colored spirits, Roman pizza topped with freshly made barbecue, a Philadelphia Eagle, and a cannoli-eating contest. The place was buzzing with customers as the Eagles fight song echoed throughout the store and customers came dressed in their favorite Eagles wear. Among the highlights was a cannoli-eating contest won by Mike Jamison of Buckingham who devoured nine of the market?s sweet Italian treats in three minutes flat to win a $125 gift card to the store. ?They are the best cannolis in town, which made this easy,? said Jamison. He gave a lot of credit to the contest?s youngest competitor, Allie, who managed to down three chocolate chip-covered desserts. ?I give her a lot of credit. It?s not easy sitting up here in front of everyone doing this.? Allie?s neighbor, Alex Sosnoski joined in the fun. Each of the four participants took home a t-shirt and a box of baked goods from the store as consolation prizes. ?That was so fun. They had to eat 15 mini-cannoli in three minutes or less. They did wonderful. I'm so proud of them,? said store owner Maria Nappi, noting that it's not easy eating cannolis that fast. "It's definitely more Italian and more enjoyable to eat them at a slower pace." Another highlight of the pep rally included fresh barbecue pizza toppings made by Jacob Blomgren of Wild Bill?s Texas BBQ in Perkasie. Blomgren brought his smoker to the store for Saturday's pep rally.
