In October, the school dedicated a statue in Pettine's honor. After his death, the life-sized custom bronze statue was created by Big Statues of Provo, Utah in his memory.
Superintendent John Kopicki in a statement thanked the school board for their leadership, especially board president Glenn Schloeffel and school board operations committee chair Tracy Suits; as well as school director Sharon Collopy, who served on the field naming committee.
Kopicki also recognized the contributions of CBSD Athletic Director Danielle Turner, C.B. West Principal Tim Donovan and others at C.B. West; including Jim Benstead, who Kopicki noted was at the very forefront of ensuring that Coach Pettine received this honor.
"Jim is not only a strong advocate for what he believes in, he’s a strong advocate for the Central Bucks School District,” Dr. Kopicki said.
