CBFYMCA swim team has strong showing at state level competition

Central Bucks Family YMCA Dolphins swim team has strong showing at state level competition

Central Bucks Family YMCA Dolphins had a successful showing at the 2018 YMCA State Swimming Championship in State College with 19 swimmers competing. Out of the nineteen swimmers competing, thirteen made it to the podium.

Lina Hofmann placed first in the 13-14 year old girls 100 meter breaststroke and second in the 200 meter breaststroke. She also qualified for YMCA Nationals held in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Additionally, the Dolphins placed 11th in the 9-10 year old Girls Medley Relay (Freya Mottershead, Grace Petrakis, Sarah Shapiro and Kate Clark) and 11th in 9-10 year old Boys Free Relay (Elijah Barker, Darren Sung, Charles Huckel and Alan Zhang).

Several individuals placed as well:

  • Elizabeth Axler: 15 and over 200 meter butterfly - 12th place
  • Charles Huckel: 9-10 year old boys 200 meter freestyle - 6th place

100 meter butterfly- 6th place
50 meter butterfly Fly- 4th place

  • Zach LeMay 11-12 year old boys 100 meter butterfly- 11th place
  • Freya Mottershead 9-10 year old girls 50 meter backstroke - 5th place

100 meter backstroke - 4th place
100 meter individual medley - 10th place

  • Grace Petrakis: 9-10 year old girls 100 meter freestyle - 7th place

100 meter individual medley - 8th place

  • Michael Scarpitta: 15 & over boys 200 meter butterfly - 4th place

100 meter butterfly - 11th place

  • Jill Thorning: 11-12 year old girls 200 meter individual medley - 11th place

Central Bucks Family YMCA also took first place for both the girls and the boys in the Madison Division Championship Meets.

“Congratulations to our swimmers and coaches! They dedicated themselves to working hard this season and it paid off. We’re so proud,” said Central Bucks Family YMCA President & CEO Zane Moore.
