DOYLESTOWN, PA — A Central Bucks East baseball player was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays as the 24th pick during the MLB draft on Wednesday night.

Nick Bitsko, 17, was ranked 14th on the MLB's Top 200 Draft Prospects list.

He graduated CB East early this June, making the announcement on Twitter in January. "After a lot of thought and consideration, I have decided to graduate high school early in June of 2020. I am ready for the next challenge and I am excited for one more spring season with my teammates and even more excited for what comes next," he tweeted.

In an article earlier this month, ESPN called Bitsko the "draft's man of mystery."

The MLB originally planned the draft event for Omaha, Nebraska, at the site of the College World Series, but the league readjusted due to coronavirus crisis. The draft instead is being held remotely, with teams' front offices interacting through video calls.
