Central Bucks Students Win Awards At SkillsUSA Competition

JAMISON, PA ? Students from technical schools throughout Pennsylvania, including Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT), competed in the 2024 SkillsUSA State Competitions held in Hershey. MBIT had 41 competitors who earned a total of 16 medals: 10 gold medal winners, 4 silver medal winners and 2 bronze medal winners.

SkillsUSA is the national organization for students in trade, industrial, and technical education. It sponsors the SkillsUSA Championships annually to recognize the achievements of career and technical students, and to encourage them to strive for excellence and pride in their chosen occupations. The contests are planned by technical committees comprised of representatives of labor and management and are designed to test the skills needed for successful entry-level performance in given occupational fields. In addition to competitions focusing on technical skills, students have the opportunity to demonstrate their leadership abilities.

MBIT had 41 competitors who earned a total of 16 medals: 10 gold medal winners, 4 silver medal winners and 2 bronze medal winners.

Leadership development contests include areas concentrating on public speaking, job interview, business procedure, and professionalism.

Eight of the gold medal winners will advance to the National SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta, Georgia in June 2024.

?It was a record setting year for MBIT and we are so proud of all of our student competitors," said Dr. Mark Covelle, MBIT Administrative Director. "They represented their programs and their school with distinction. Now, seven students will go on to Atlanta and represent Middle Bucks on the national stage. Based on the thousands of competitors at the SkillsUSA state competition, it is clear that career technical education is experiencing a renaissance and I?m happy to see MBIT leading the way!?
