County To Begin Charging For Parking At 2 Doylestown Facilities
The county will begin charging for parking at two facilities in Doylestown Borough on Sept. 14.
BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The county will begin charging for parking at two facilities in Doylestown Borough next week. Officials said the fees will be used to offset maintenance costs.
Fees are set to begin Sept. 14 at the county-owned parking facilities at Broad and Union Streets and at Broad and Court Streets. County employees based in Doylestown still will be able to park for free, and fees will be waived for all motorists on Sundays.
Fees vary by location, time and day and will be equal or less than those charged by Doylestown Borough for its metered parking, county officials said in a news release.

According to the county, the parking facilities cost the county $222,000 in annual maintenance costs. Occasional upgrades add to that total. For example, a preventive maintenance project completed last year on the Union Street garage cost nearly $1 million.
Proceeds from the parking fees will go toward those costs, the county said.

At the Union Street facility, parking will be available at all hours Monday through Saturday for $1 per hour, up to a maximum of $5 per day. For vehicles left overnight, the total will begin to accumulate again at midnight. Parking fees at the Union Street garage can be paid with credit card or cash.
At the Administration Building facility, parking will be available from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday morning through Friday night. The cost is 50 cents per hour.
On Saturdays, public parking will cost 50 cents per hour from midnight to 8 a.m., $1 per hour from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 50 cents from 5 p.m. to midnight. Credit cards are the only form of payment accepted at the Administration Building parking facility.
The parking fee for anyone who loses a paper parking ticket from either facility will be $20.
County employees will use their ID badges to access free parking. County workers who arrive without their employee ID badges will be required to get a paper parking ticket upon entry and contact the Security Department to have the ticket validated before leaving the lot.
