Cowgill sits on the board of the YMCA of Bucks and Hunterdon Counties where he has served on the board and on countless subcommittees. He?s also involved with a number of other organizations in town including the Bucks County Symphony, Doylestown Health, the Bucks County Opportunity Council and the County Theatre.
?Because he is so humble he doesn?t rattle off his extensive resume because he is unassuming, kind, very interesting and very capable,? said Broad. ?He doesn?t take himself too seriously even though he is brilliant. He knows everyone in this town and this area. And to know him is to love
him.
?He loves Doylestown through and through,? added Broad. ?He has lived everywhere with his Naval background, and he considers this his home. He?s the best person for this role,? she said. ?You will not be disappointed if you appoint him to this position.?
Lou White, who has known Cowgill for almost 40 years, also spoke in favor of Cowgill?s appointment. ?I can recommend him without hesitation.
?The borough is facing important challenges. Curt will be able to hit the ground running,? said White.
?His service in the US Naval Academy and as an officer reinforce a moral compass already strengthened by his Midwest upbringing. His integrity and his honesty are without question,? said White. ?For this reason he was chosen by Congressman Fitzpatrick to interview and screen candidates for the various military academies.
?His work with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has given him vast experience in listening to and working with the public and responding accordingly,? said White.
?As a committee member he will study the issues and have an opinion, but will be a team player and value consensus - important qualities in a council member,? said White. ?He will understand the big issues. More importantly, as a member his only agenda will be what is good for the residents and businesses of this town we all love.?
Cowgill will serve until January 1, 2024. Voters in ward two will decide this year through the Primary and General election who their next representative will be on council.
