Customers Of Doylestown Sports Store Rooting For A Big Eagles Win

DOYLESTOWN, PA ? Customers of the Sports Connection in Doylestown and in Chalfont have a big reason to root for the Philadelphia Eagles in this year?s Super Bowl.

You see, any Sports Connection customer who made a purchase of $300 or more between Black Friday and the NFC Championship game will receive a full refund if the Birds win the big game.

That's right, a full refund.

Some thought owner John Calvecchio had lost his mind when they heard about the promotion last fall. But John said he just wanted to cheer on his high flying Eagles while also differentiating his stores from the competition.

Not only did the promotion ratchet up sales at his stores, which specialize in sports cards and sneakers, it also brought in new fans and customers as they have cheered on the Birds together as the team has run through the competition on its way to the big game.

?From Black Friday up until now the response been incredible. People come in on Sundays just to watch the game. The promotion has been really well received,? said Calvecchio. ?It?s the only thing the customers can talk about.?

So how much are we talking about if the Eagles win?

?It?s a lot. We?re talking big numbers,? he said.

Does he have any regrets as the Super Bowl approaches and the Birds appear to be unstoppable?

?No, no,? he say. ?I can?t wait. I hope they win. I want them to win. It will make more people happy. My fingers are crossed. I think they do it. I really think they do.?

So what?s his prediction for the big game?

?31-27 Birds,? he says.

?They are so invigorating. They are so much fun to watch. They play with such passion. They have great players on both sides of the ball,? said Calvecchio, adding that his favorites are the guys who brought the last Super Bowl trophy home to Philadelphia.

The past year has been an amazing one for Philadelphia sports fans and for the Sports Connection, first with the Phillies and now with the Eagles with more to come with the Sixers, ptedicts Calvecchio.
