Doylestown 2020 Winterfest Events Announced

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Winterfest might feel a little different this year, but festival organizers are working hard to bring that same holiday cheer to Doylestown.

On Sunday morning, Doylestown firefighters and volunteers raised a 23-foot tall Christmas tree, which came courtesy of the Bountiful Acres Garden Center, to help usher in the beginning of the holiday season. Over 100 wreaths will hang on historic lamp posts throughout the downtown area.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, there won't be any gatherings or parades this year. Instead, Santa Claus will appear from the north pole for a live streaming event on the Discover Doylestown Facebook page every Wednesday, beginning Dec. 2, to read letters and wish lists from children in the community. And on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m., local community members, many of them recognizable, will read holiday stories to children.

The Doylestown Fire Company is holding a Santa Run planned for Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. You can try and catch him in town or follow his journey on the fire company's social media pages.

The Doylestown Dreidel is also back this year, displayed at the State and Hamilton Street intersection for the festival of lights.

The tree-lighting will be live-streamed on the Discover Doylestown Facebook page on Friday, Nov. 27, at 6:30 p.m.

Local shops will offer specials during Small Business Weekend, scheduled to take place Saturday, Nov. 28 through Sunday, Nov. 29.
