Doylestown-Area Movie Theaters Preparing To Reopen

Movie theaters in the Doylestown area are planning to reopen in the coming weeks, after months of being closed due to the pandemic.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Movie theaters in the Doylestown area are planning to reopen in the coming weeks, after months of being closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

AMC Theatres on Thursday announced more than two dozen of its Pennsylvania locations will reopen in late August or early September.

And Regal, which operates the Barn Plaza in Doylestown, said this week it would be reopening its theaters beginning Aug. 21. It's not yet clear if every Regal facility will open on that date. Check back to Patch for updates.

Both chains are planning several health and safety measures in theaters, including mandatory mask wearing, sanitizing stations, contact-free payment, and social distancing protocols.

“We are thrilled to once again open our doors to American moviegoers who are looking for an opportunity to get out of their houses and apartments and escape into the magic of the movies,” said Adam Aron, CEO and president of AMC Theatres, in a statement.

On Aug. 20 only, AMC will celebrate the company’s 100-year anniversary with $0.15 movies.

AMC will also begin rolling out a $5 ticket promotion in the coming weeks and months of bring-back titles, such as a 10th anniversary of “Inception” vent, “Black Panther,” "Back to the Future,” “Ghostbusters,” “Grease,” and “Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back.”

Upcoming major movie releases include Disney’s “The New Mutants” on Aug. 28 and Warner Bros.’ “Tenet” on Sept. 3.
