DOYLESTOWN, PA — If you were voting at the Doylestown Borough municipal building on West Court Street early Tuesday afternoon, you didn't have to wait very long.

About 5 miles away, it was a different story. At Central Bucks High School East, some people waited in line for more than an hour and a half to cast their ballot.

Evan Creedon, of Doylestown, was one of those voters.

"I could complain, but I won't," Creedon laughed. "This year has thrown a lot at us."

Pennsylvanians had the added option this year of voting early by mail ballot, but Creedon, a Boston University graduate who worked in the shipping industry before losing his job during the pandemic, didn't want to take any chances.

"I didn't trust it enough," he said. "This felt safer."

Shannon Harris, of Doylestown, felt the same way.

"It felt better coming in person to watch my ballot go through the scanner," Harris said after casting her ballot.

The owner of an online retail business, Harris came with a friend to vote on the Republican ticket.

"I believe in God, I'm patriotic and I respect the Constitution," Harris said of her decision to vote Republican. "Whatever happens, we pride ourselves on a peaceful transition of power. That's what makes America great."
