Doylestown Cancels 2021 Memorial Day Parade

Doylestown Borough has canceled its 2021 Memorial Day Parade due to the ongoing pandemic.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Doylestown Borough has canceled its 2021 Memorial Day Parade due to the ongoing pandemic. The traditional flag raisings at War Memorial Field and Monument Square and the ceremony at Doylestown Cemetery will still take place.

"The Memorial Day Parade Committee, made up of representatives from the Borough and the United Veterans of Doylestown did not come to this decision lightly, and are keenly aware of the importance of the parade to the Community. Social distancing requirements, crowd limitations, and the absence of many key marching units, however, combined to create obstacles that could not be overcome in a way that would allow for a parade while protecting the health of spectators and participants," the borough said in a statement.

Officials said more details about planned Memorial Day events are forthcoming. "These will include musical performances by the Central Bucks high school bands and be open to the public with social distancing. They will also be viewable online," the announcement said.
