DOYLESTOWN, PA — Three grassroots organizations are hosting a "Protect The Results" demonstration in Doylestown on Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Rise Up Doylestown, Indivisible Bucks County and Indivisible Lambertville New Hope are planning to gather at 3 p.m. on the lawn of the old Bucks County Courthouse between Court Street and Main Street.

Protect The Results represents a broad coalition of national organizations, its key backers being Stand Up America, Indivisible and MoveOn. More than 450 post-Election Day events are planned in cities across the country as of Friday afternoon.

The coalition is "committed to upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the final, legitimate results of the 2020 election," according to its website.

Kierstyn Zolfo, of Indivisible Bucks County, said organizers are asking people who want to attend the event to leave behind candidate swag and party-related signs.

"This is nonpartisan," Zolfo said. "This is about supporting the bedrock of democracy, not any one candidate."

Zalfo said the demonstration will likely take place at around 5 p.m., and any changes will be updated on the event page. Both Republican and Democratic party lawmakers are expected to speak at the event, she said.

Around 3 million Pennsylvanians requested mail-in ballots in this election, according to the Department of State. Zalfo fears that President Trump will declare an early victory or take steps to stop some votes from being counted.

"If President Trump makes statements or takes actions in the aftermath of Election Day that would cast doubt on the validity of those 3 million ballots, then I do think we’re gonna hold a demonstration," she said.

Fears of election day shenanigans have been well-documented, especially in the swing state of Pennsylvania, where Gov. Tom Wolf urged voters to turn in their mail-in ballots in person at their local elections office to ensure their vote is counted.
