Doylestown Mourns Loss Of Sydney Martin
An entrepreneur, philanthropist and world-renowned collector, Sydney Martin lived in Doylestown for more than 30 years.
DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Doylestown community is mourning the loss of a businessman and philanthropist who lived in the area for more than 30 years.
Sydney Martin, who spent his final days in Amelia Island, Florida, passed away on Jan. 19 after a long battle with cancer, according to his obituary.
During his time in Doylestown, he became involved with local nonprofit and community organizations, serving as chair of the Michener Museum of Art, founding director of the Doylestown Historical Society and as a board member of the Heritage Conservancy.

Martin is survived by his wife, Sharon, of 47 years, his sister and brother, his four children and seven grandchildren.
A private service will be held with a celebration of life planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sydney Martin can be made to the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson Health.
