High School Girls’ Team

On Sunday, October 27, 2019, the Doylestown Rugby High School Girls’ Team won the RugbyPa State 7s Championship held at the Greater Chester Valley Sports Complex in Malvern, Pennsylvania. In the first match of the day, Doylestown defeated Penn Legacy 27-0. Nina Mason, Grace McCullough, Molly Thiebeau, Maddie Doyle, and Merrin McSorley each scored 1 try. The second match was a 30-5 victory over Downingtown. Grace McCullough had 2 tries, and Nina Mason, Maddie Doyle, and Merrin McSorley each had 1 try. The third match of pool play was against West Shore. Doylestown won 17-5. Nina Mason scored 2 tries and made 1 conversion kick. Grace McCullough scored 1 try. In the semi-finals, Doylestown again faced West Shore, and came away with a 25-5 win to put them in the finals. Grace McCullough had 3 tries, and Nina Mason and Belle Poole each scored 1 try. The championship match was against Penn Legacy. Doylestown clinched first place with a 29-10 victory. Try scorers were: Molly Thiebeau (1), Belle Poole (1), Nina Mason (1), Grace McCullough (1), and Merrin McSorley (1). Nina Mason also kicked 2 conversions.

Men’s Team

In an away match against Virginia RFC in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday, October 26, 2019, the Doylestown Rugby Men’s Team came away with a 63-19 victory. Try scorers were Bruce Dolan (2), Dave Kornock (2), Steve Kornock (1), Matt Frederick (1), Aaron Green (1), Sekou Harris (1), and Alex Willouer (1), Dave Kornock kicked 7 conversions and Jeremy Ault kicked 2 conversions. The Man of the Match was Matt Frederick. The Hard Hat award went to Dave Kornock. The Dragons will host Philly-Whitemarsh on November 9, 2019.

Women’s Team

The Doylestown Rugby Women’s Team defeated the Northeast Irish Women on Saturday, October 26, 2019, in a home match. The final score was 54-26. Cait Rycek led the Lady Dragons with 3 tries. Maddie Groninger had 2 tries and 1 conversion. Jaime Malercik, Lili Riley, and Katie Walston each had 1 try. Katie Walston also kicked 6 conversions. The final match of the fall season will be played on Saturday, November 2, 2019, against rival, Harrisburg Women, at the home pitch, the Maennerchor Field, 3650 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Kick-0ff is set for 11:00 a.m.

High School Boys’ Team

The Doylestown Rugby High School Boys’ Team participated in the RugbyPa State 7s Championship held at the Greater Chester Valley Sports Complex in Malvern, Pennsylvania on Sunday, October 27, 2019. The boys worked to overcome the challenges presented by the heavy rains by making adjustments to their game plan. The adjustments paid off late in the day with a well-executed 22-12 victory over local rival, Blackthorn. Try scorers during the day were Dalton Reinheimer (3), Joe Mignon (2), Nakai Miller (1), and Tom Fitzpatrick (1). Dalton Reinheimer also kicked 3 conversions.
