Women’s Team
In the first match of the fall season, the Doylestown Rugby Women’s Team defeated Chesapeake in Baltimore on Saturday, September 14, 2019. The final score was 46-0. Katie Walston and Grayce Fjeld led the scoring with 2 tries each. Maddie Groninger, Jaime Malerchik, Ali Dowdy, and Lisa Rake each also scored 1 try. Elyse Garcia made 2 conversions to round out the scoring. The home opener is on Saturday, 21, 2019 against Norfolk at the Doylestown Rugby Fall Fest. The Doylestown Rugby Men’s Team will also play their home opener against league-opponent, Lancaster Roses. The matches will be played at the Maennerchor Field, 3650 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The Fall Fest will feature a pig roast and beer raffle after the rugby matches.

On Sunday, September 15, 2019, the Doylestown Rugby High School Boys’ Team played in the Blackthorn Rugby 7s Tournament. This was the first tournament of the RugbyPA High School Boys’ Fall 7s Series. The tournament proved to be a valuable developmental experience for the young team. After falling short in the first two matches against Berks and LaSalle, the Dragons put up a decisive victory over Bishop Shanahan. Tries were scored by Dalton Reinheimer (2), Kurt Schoenmeier, and Joe Mignon, with conversions by Dalton Reinheimer and Tom Fitzpatrick. Although they lost the final match against Schuylkill Valley, the Dragons played well in a barn-burner that came down to the last play of the match. Tries were scored by Joe Mignon, Nakai Miller, and Dan Needham, with conversions by Dalton Reinheimer and Tom Fitzpatrick. The next tournament in the RugbyPA High School Boys’ Series will be hosted by Marywood University (Scranton) on Sunday, September 22, 2019.
High School Girls’ Team

On Sunday, September 15, 2019, the Doylestown Rugby High School Girls’ Team played in the Marywood Tournament. This was the first tournament of the RugbyPA High School Girls’ Fall 7s Series. Doylestown won the first match against Morris 39-0. Try scorers were: Grace McCullough (2), Merrin McSorley (2), Katen Ostrow (1), Belle Poole (1), and Amelia Fisher (1). McSorley also made 2 conversions. Doylestown defeated Penn Legacy in the second match 17-14. Scoring tries were: Tamia Freeman (1), Grace McCullough (1), and Molly Thiebeau (1). Maddie Doyle kicked 1 conversion. The final match of the day ended in a tie with Bishop Shanahan 10-10. Liz Johnston and Grace McCullough each scored 1 try. The next tournament in the RugbyPA High School Girls’ Series will be hosted by Doylestown on Sunday, September 22, 2019.
