Results from weekend of October 19-20, 2019

Men’s Team

The Doylestown Rugby Men’s Team took on the South Jersey Devils in a home match on Saturday, October 19, 2019, and came away with a victory. The final score was 80-27. Try scorers for the Dragons were Dylan Hamilton (4), Ryheem Powell (2), Eric French (2), Bruce Dolan (1), Alex Willouer (1), Sekou Harris (1), and Jeremy Ault (1). Dylan Hamilton also kicked 10 conversions. The Man of the Match was Dylan Hamilton. The Hard Hat award went to Connor Dolan. The Dragons will travel to Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday, October 26, 2019 to play Virginia RFC.

The Doylestown Rugby Women’s Team traveled to Henrico, Virginia on Saturday, October 19, 2019, to take on James River. The Lady Dragons won 58-13. The following players scored 1 try each: Cait Rycek, Kaitlin Tomecek, Jamie Malerchik, Grayce Fjeld, Nikki Fairman, Sara Ross, Ali Dowdy, Britta Gamache, Rachel Dayton, and Morgan Stiffler. Elyce Garcia made 4 conversion kicks. Doylestown will take on the Northeast Irish at home on Saturday, October 26, 2019.

High School Girls’ Team

On Sunday, October 20, 2019, the Doylestown Rugby High School Girls’ Team won the final tournament of the RugbyPA High School Girls’ Fall 7s Series, which was held at West Chester University. In the first match, Doylestown beat West Shore 41-0. Try scorers were: Sophia Linder (2), Nina Mason (1), Grace McCullough (1), Molly Thiebeau (1), Belle Poole (1), and Tamia Freeman (1). Nina Mason kicked 2 conversions and Reaghan King made 1. The second match was also a shutout, 30-0, against Downingtown. Try scorers were: Sophia Linder (2), Merrin McSorley (2), Grace McCullough (1), and Nina Mason (1). The third match against Fort Hunt ended with a score in favor of Doylestown, 33-5. Scoring tries for Doylestown were: Grace McCullough (2), Merrin McSorley (1), Sydney Haddon (1), and Sophia Linder (1). Nina Mason and Grace McCullough each kicked 2 conversions. In the fourth match, against Morris II, Doylestown won 36-5, with the following players scoring tries. Sophia Linder (3), Reaghan King (1), Grace McCullough (1), and Belle Poole (1). Sophia Linder, Nina Mason, and Grace McCullough each kicked 1 conversion. In the final match of the day, against Morris, was a 29-5 victory for Doylestown. Sophia Linder scored 3 tries, and Belle Poole and Liz Johnston each had 1 try. Sophia Linder kicked 2 conversions. On Sunday, October 27, 2019, the high school girls will compete in the RugbyPA State 7s Championships to be held at the Greater Chester Valley Sports Complex in Malvern, PA.
