DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH, PA ? Doylestown Borough is taking on the look and the feel of the holiday season.

Over the weekend, teams of volunteers helped decorate the town with lighted wreaths compliments of Discover Doylestown and Doylestown Borough.

Among those lending a hand were mother and daughter, Alex Nocella of Doylestown Borough and Renee Guarro of New Britain Borough who came out to give back. They were hanging wreaths along Court Street across from the Bucks County Administration building.

Just around the corner in front of Bocelli?s were Scott Shaner and Steve Fleischut who were hanging a wreath on a decorative lamppost in front of the restaurant. This was their first time helping to decorate the town.

Not far away were Phil and Elizabeth Perinelli of Dublin Borough. They had joined the decorating crew and were hanging wreaths along North Main Street near the Justice Center.

They moved to Bucks County two years ago, relocating from New Jersey. Elizabeth said they had attended the Doylestown Tree Lighting and had fallen in love with Bucks County.

The wreath hanging is the prelude to a busy holiday season ahead in Doylestown, highlighted by the town?s tree lighting and Santa Parade on Friday, Nov. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m.

For the 111th year, the community will gather at State and Main to light the town?s tree, which has again been generously donated by Bountiful Acres.

Employees from Bountiful Acres will be lifting this year?s tree ? a 25-foot-tall Nordmann Fir ? into place the weekend before Thanksgiving in preparation for the festivities. It will then be decorated with thousands of lights and 150 ornaments.

As a prelude to the tree lighting, a parade will usher Santa into town with bands, cheerleaders and community spirit. The parade will step off from CB West and march east to the heart of town where Santa will touch his nose to light the tree.

?Join guest emcee Richard Curtis as we welcome Santa, Mrs. Claus, and some specialodious guests flying in from the land of Oz,? posted Discover Doylestown of the event.

This year, the public is being asked to bring donations of nonperishable food for the New Britain Food Pantry. Fred Beans and Bike Works are teaming up to provide a box truck for the food collection.

Starting at 5 p.m., Doylestown Dart will be running free shuttles from the parking garage up to the tree lighting ceremony.

Following the tree lighting and parade, the holiday shopping season will kick into high gear with Small Business Saturday, November 29. Businesses throughout town will be offering special sales,

A new addition to the holiday schedule this year will be an Ugly Sweater Walk. The free event takes place Dec. 7, beginning at noon.

Other holiday events include Santa?s Cottage, a Christmas Holiday House Tour and Tea, a Festival of Christmas Music, and a Hanukkah Celebration.
