Doylestown Township Man Pleads Guilty to Hoax That Led To Manhunt

Luke Sanderlin, 34, admitted he lied to police in December about encountering killer

A Doylestown man pleaded guilty Monday to deceiving police, sparking a manhunt in Bucks County, according to The Intelligencer.

Luke Sanderlin, 34, admitted to perpetrating a hoax, telling police that he encountered Bradley Stone, who was wanted for killing his ex-wife and several members of her family, in December. Stone’s body was found a day later in Montgomery County.

The report states that the former volunteer firefighter pleaded guilty to false alarm, reckless endangerment and making false reports. He is expected to be sentenced in two months.

According to the report, Sanderlin faces up to eight months of prison and could have to pay $5,000 to cover the costs of the police search, which included a helicopter.
