Doylestown Youth Fishing Derby Is Saturday

There will be free food, including burgers, hotdogs, soda, and water ice from Annie's Water Ice.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Doylestown Borough will host the Opening Day Youth Fishing Derby this Saturday, March 30 starting at 8 a.m. at the Doylestown Borough Dam in Fanny Chapman Park.

The Opening Day event is free for children 16 and younger. There will be free food, including burgers, hotdogs, soda, and water ice from Annie's Water Ice. The weather as of now looks good for Saturday: the National Weather Service is predicting partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid-70s.

Used fishing rods and reels are needed for use during the derby. Drop off donations at Dave’s Sport Center, 1127 N. Easton Rd., or at Mt. Lake Pool & Patio, in the Doylestown Shopping Center.

The items will be retrofitted for use by children in need on opening day.

In addition to the opening day derby, there are two 2019 fishing days scheduled for seniors, handicapped and veterans: April 27 and May 18 at 8 a.m. Rods and bait are provided if needed. Plus, there will be free sandwiches.

As always, donations are needed to keep the popular borough fishing program thriving. Donations, which are tax deductible, can be sent to: Friends of the Borough Dam, Doylestown Borough Hall, 57 West Court St., Doylestown, PA 18901.
