Questions
1. Why are you running for the school board? If elected, what will your priorities be?
I?m running for school board because our schools are personal to me. I spent over ten years teaching in Pennsylvania public schools. I hold a Bachelor?s in adolescent education and a Master?s in educational leadership, and I?ve written curriculum that has been approved both locally and nationally. Today, I?m a small business owner and active community volunteer, which has strengthened my skills in communication, collaboration, budgeting, and problem-solving. But the most important role I have is being a mom to two elementary-age children. I know what it feels like to want the best for your kids, and I know that every family in our district wants the same.
2. What do you see as the major issues facing the district and how would you address them?
The major issues facing the district are unpredictability at the federal level, growing special education needs, and the successful implementation of full-day kindergarten and grade realignment.
3. What would you like to see in a new superintendent? Where would you like to see him/her focus their energies?
I am looking for a superintendent who leads with transparency, collaboration, and a commitment to supporting all learners. I would like to see our new superintendent prioritize student support and community connection. We need to take a close, honest look at our special education department to ensure students are receiving the services they need and that we are properly staffed with qualified teachers and support personnel. I also believe the superintendent should play an active role in rebuilding trust and communication. I would propose a monthly Superintendent Round Table with parents, students, staff, and community members. This would create an ongoing space for open dialogue, listening, and shared understanding. When the district and community stay connected, our schools are stronger and our students benefit.
