Farmers Market Opens 50th Anniversary Season In Doylestown

The market is the oldest, continuously operating farmer's market in Bucks County.

DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH, PA ? The Doylestown Farmers Market will open its 50th anniversary season on Saturday, April 19, with a special commemorative unveiling, anniversary merchandise, and the kick-off of a season-long golden ticket hunt.

Located in the heart of downtown Doylestown on South Hamilton Street between West Oakland Avenue and West State Street, the open-air market features more than 30 rotating vendors local to Bucks County and the surrounding area. The market takes place every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 19 through mid-November.

At each market, shoppers will find a wide variety of locally-grown and produced products ranging from fresh vegetables, fruits, baked goods, kombucha, mushrooms, microgreens, mead, cider, dog treats, soap, body and aromatherapy products, tasty snacks, artwork, jewelry and many other local products

As the oldest continually operating farmers market in the county, the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance has managed the market since 2017 when it took the reins from the Buckingham Township Civic Association. The market was established in 1975 and continues to be a destination for the people of Doylestown and the surrounding area.

Market manager Alexandra Dadio attributes the market's longevity and success to the ?tremendous support from Doylestown Borough, amazing loyal customers, talented vendors, hard work from our administrative team, and a love of local.

?Come get to know the farmers and makers who hold up our vibrant food economy," said Dadio. "We are a producers-only market. All of our vendors must either grow what they sell or make what they sell from local ingredients, to adhere to the mission of the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance, our parent company."

Featuring live music every week and special events throughout the season, the market is a great destination for day-trippers and locals alike, added Dadio.

"We offer tasting events, interactive workshops, chef demos, showcases of local nonprofits, children?s programs, and more! Be sure to check out our events schedule and sign up for our newsletter so you don?t miss what?s next.?

Throughout the upcoming season, shoppers who find golden tickets hidden at the market can redeem them at the green market tent for a $5 gift certificate to use in the market. Three tickets will be hidden each Saturday for shoppers to find.

The market is also looking for local Doylestown chefs/restaurants to come to the markets and show off their skills by cooking and sampling dishes using local produce from the market. Any interested local Doylestown chefs/restaurants can contact the market at dtownmarketmanager@gmail.com.
