PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — Five goats rescued last month from a farm in Plumstead Township are now available for adoption through the Bucks County SPCA.

The goats are the first available from the July rescue, during which the local SPCA rescued more than 130 farm animals they said were found living in unsanitary and overcrowded conditions.

Two of the available goats are friendly enough to go to any home or farm, three of them should go to goat savvy adopters, according to the SPCA. The adoption fee is $100 for female goats and $50 for castrated male goats.

All interested adopters should fill out an application: A meet and greet will be then scheduled, the SPCA said.

During the July 18 rescue, 52 goats, 80 chickens, and five turkeys were rescued. The animals were being kept in poor conditions with inadequate access to food, according to information from the SPCA.

Some of the goats had signs of external parasites. "Manure pack was so deep in one area that the three goats standing on the pile were taller than my head," BCSPCA Chief Humane Police Officer Nikki Thompson said at the time of the rescue.

The SPCA transported the animals to the Bucks County SPCA's Quakertown location, where they were all examined by a veterinarian.
