A much-anticipated first public screening of the supernatural thriller, Impuratus, is taking place at The County Theater in Doylestown, on Sunday, Feb. 26.

The film was produced by Doylestown?s Thundersmoke Media and stars both Hollywood veterans and local actors, including Jody Quigley of Doylestown.

With chilling cold temperatures, both inside and outside of the Pennhurst asylum, the six-week film shoot provided great challenges for the cast and crew.

Impuratus, starring Hollywood veteran Tom Sizemore, is a riveting psychological thriller that will frequently make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck.

Sizemore, best known for Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, Heat, Natural Born Killers, and Born on the Fourth of July, clearly makes his mark in this stunning new indie possession film that will surely keep you guessing.

Sizemore encourages local film buffs and those who appreciate psychological thrillers to come to the February 26 screening. Impuratus has been described as a "unique mystery with nods to film noir."

?People should go for a good scare and cuddle up with a friend or maybe someone that they really like. You will get a good scare, but at the same time the movie is really elegant.? Sizemore added. ?It?s a really cool set. It?s nice to watch. It?s really well shot; it?s really nice looking."

The movie is about a police detective, Clayton Douglas, (Sizemore), who is summoned to a remote state mental hospital to witness a mysterious Civil War veteran?s outrageous death-bed confession that forces the officer to accept the supernatural.

Recently retired from the police force, Detective Douglas, who has basically seen it all during his decades in law enforcement, travels through the wooded country road on his way home.

He has to decide whether to go home and finally be the husband and father he needs to be OR turn down the other road towards the insane asylum ? towards the doctor that called him earlier in the day in a frantic tone before the line went dead.

Filmed at the actual Pennhurst Asylum, just outside of Philadelphia, in the dank, dark asylum basement Detective Douglas sees and hears things that will forever change his life and the lives of his loved ones.

Why was Jody Quigley attracted to Impuratus? ?It is a good take on a thriller. I watch a lot of horror/thriller movies and they?re all the same slasher kind of thing that?s been done over and over again,? he explained. ?So I liked the idea that this one was more of a psychological thriller that gets into your head.?

The movie also co-stars Airen DeLaMater, Robert Miano, and Lew Temple. The teaser for Impuratus has already won several dozen film festival awards; including three for Sizemore and several for director Michael Yurinko.

Impuratus Producer Guy Quigley, of Fountainville, is happy to share this project that he and Yurinko worked on for five years and went through endless challenges, including the many Covid restrictions, and fears about the health and safety of the actors.

"I am truly excited to see the reaction from the audience to our creation," Guy Quigley said. "I believe that they will experience an intriguing movie that is unlike the usual horror flick."

Yurinko is pleased that the first public screening will include attendance by the cast and crew. "It's a nice gesture to have all of them see the fruits of their labor on the big screen. I hope that they are as proud of the results as we are."

He added that "sharing thoughts and feelings through stories and connecting with an audience is the sole reason that I write and direct movies."
