NEW BRITAIN BOROUGH, PA ? The New Britain Borough Council has approved the intermunicipal transfer of a liquor license into town for the new HG Coal Fired Pizza, coming soon to East Butler Avenue.

The license is being transferred from HG Bucks County Bagels in Warminster and will be converted from a beer and wine-only license to a full-service restaurant license.

Renovations are already underway at 524 East Butler Avenue, the former site of Forlano's Italian Restaurant, to convert the space into a bar and full-service Italian family restaurant that will specialize in coal fired pizza.

?Right now the place is not big enough," the owner told borough council. "We only have 52 seats. The kitchen is big but we need more dining space."

The owners said they hope to have the new restaurant open in four to five months.

The family also operates Coal Fired Pizza locations in Doylestown Borough, Warrington, Chesterbrook, and Oreland where they serve an extensive Italian menu including traditional Neapolitan pizzas, calzone and stromboli, wings, grilled panini, hot sandwiches, pasta dishes, steaks, wraps, club sandwiches, charbroiled burgers, hoagies, salads, soups and a children's menu.

However, its true specialty is its famous Coal Fire Pizzas, made with fresh ingredients and cooked in a coal-fired oven at 800 degrees Fahrenheit.

It all began in the 1980s when Hector G. (HG) immigrated to the United States bringing with him his love for pizza and deciding to open HG Pizza. The restaurants continue to be family-owned and operated with a reputation for customer service and satisfaction.
