Man Assaulted Customer At Aldi, Then Hit 2 Parked Cars: Warrington Police

Police said a 68-year-old man became upset because another customer was taking too long to load her vehicle in the store's parking lot.

WARRINGTON, PA ? A 68-year-old man is facing charges after he was involved in an assault and a hit-and-run in the parking lot of the Aldi store at 100 Easton Road on Tuesday, police said.

Police said Michael Edward Smith, of Philadelphia, became upset because a customer was taking too long loading her vehicle. During a verbal altercation, police said the 68-year-old man directed a racial slur toward another individual.

When the victim confronted Smith, telling him his language was uncalled for and offensive, Smith grabbed the victim by the arms and squeezed, causing pain, the victim told police. They also told authorities they feared for their safety.

Police said Smith then got back into his vehicle and struck two parked cars as he was leaving the parking lot.

Warrington Police took Smith into custody after he was stopped by Upper Southampton Police in Huntingdon Valley. Smith was taken to the Warrington Police Department where he was processed and released.

Smith is charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment, and hit and run.
