JAMISON, PA ?Sherry Appleton, an instructor in the medical and health professions program at the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, has been named as one of the 12 finalists for the 2025 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year award.

The annual recognition, announced by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), celebrates K-12 public education teachers who have made significant academic contributions to school-aged children across the state.

The finalists, chosen from a pool of talented applicants, are recognized each fall in Harrisburg. The winner, who will be announced at a later state awards ceremony, will represent Pennsylvania at various national, regional, and local events, including the National Teacher of the Year ceremony at the White House.

Ms. Appleton, who transitioned from a successful career in healthcare to education eight years ago, expressed her gratitude and surprise at the nomination.
