More Than $40K In Grants Awarded To Central Bucks Teachers

DOYLESTOWN, PA ? The Central Bucks Education Foundation has announced more than $40,000 in grants in support of innovative educational projects across the Central Bucks School District (CBSD).

The grants aim to enrich the educational experiences of students throughout the district, inspired by creative proposals submitted by Central Bucks teachers.

Here are a few of the grant recipients and projects approved by the foundation:

  • Makey Makey Meets Electric Cities (All Elementary Schools): A grant of $10,000 has been awarded to equip all 15 elementary schools with Makey Makey Classroom Invention Literacy kits. This initiative will foster creativity and technological literacy among young learners.
  • Do the Rot Thing (Jamison Elementary): An $8,250 grant will facilitate the creation of a school garden and the establishment of a school-wide composting program led by 5th-grade students, promoting environmental stewardship and hands-on learning.
  • Green Thumb Academy (Mill Creek Elementary): With a grant of $4,775, this project supports an innovative indoor agricultural program, providing students with unique insights into sustainable farming practices.

  • Fabrication Tools (Butler Elementary): A $2,475 grant will enhance the Quest program by providing innovative fabrication opportunities for students in grades 1-5, encouraging problem-solving and design skills.
  • Math Recess Books and Games (Lenape Middle School): With a grant of $1,594, the school will acquire books, puzzles, and board games designed to promote a collaborative and positive approach to mathematics. By making math interactive and fun, these activities will foster a growth mindset, helping students build confidence and persistence in mathematical problem-solving ? essential skills for future STEAM careers.
  • Baptiste Paul ? Young Author's Speaker (Barclay Elementary): A $1,500 grant will fund a visit from author Baptiste Paul, who will present assemblies and engage students in follow-up classroom activities.
  • Black History Month Boards (CB South High School): A $1,200 grant will be used to create displays during Black History Month, educating students, staff, and the community about the contributions of Black Americans.
  • Sensory Room ? (Linden Elementary): A $1,000 grant will support the development of a sensory room designed to provide a safe and stimulating environment for individuals with sensory processing disorders and other special needs.
