Morel Family Center for Prenatal Care Opens At Doylestown Health

DOYLESTOWN, PA ? Doylestown Health dedicated its new Morel Family Foundation Center for Prenatal Care on Friday, September 9 with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

Morel Prenatal Care opened officially on Monday, September 12 in a new suite on the ground floor of Doylestown Hospital, capable of serving more patients than ever before in response to rising demand for services in the region.

Morel Prenatal Care is named in recognition of the generosity of the Morel Family Foundation. The family Foundation has supported multiple areas across the health system, including underwriting the state-of-the-art 1.5T MRI scanner in the Morel Family MRI Center.

The relocation and complete build-out of Morel Prenatal Care allows for an additional exam room, three ultrasound rooms, two non-stress test rooms, and one observation room.

The new center also offers a separate blood draw area and lactation support room, offices, conference rooms, staff lounge, and added storage; features that did not exist in the original space.

Services include diagnostic testing during all trimesters, specialized ultrasounds, evaluation services to determine the health of the mother and child prior to birth, and aid for high-risk pregnancies.

An experienced maternal-fetal medicine specialist (perinatologist) offers advanced care on-site, managing high-risk pregnancies to provide optimal outcomes. Adjacent to the center is the Beck Family Classroom, offering ample space for educational workshops and classes.

Jim Brexler, president and Chief Executive Officer of Doylestown Health, welcomed guests alongside Marianne Chabot, chair of the boards of Doylestown Hospital and Doylestown Health Foundation. Speakers included Helen Hammes, president of the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown (VIA); Patti Stover, RN, MSN, NE-BC, vice president of Patient Services and Chief Nursing Officer; Sue Minio, MSN, RNC-OB, director of maternal and child services, and Donald Morel, Jr., Ph.D., on behalf of the Morel Family Foundation.

In addition, Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, State Sen. Steve Santarsiero, State Rep. Shelby Labs, and Noni West, mayor of Doylestown, attended. Each spoke imparting a personal touch to the ceremony. Vail Garvin, Ph.D., president and Chief Executive Officer of the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce was also present.

Morel Prenatal Care was announced as a priority of the "One Vision Campaign" in 2020. Upcoming campaign priority milestones include the reconstruction of Children?s Village, the early childhood education center on the campus of Doylestown Hospital, expanding and renovating Interventional Radiology at Doylestown Hospital, the renovation of the Catheterization Laboratory including an additional Hybrid Procedural Suite, and further hospital updates to enhance patient access and comfort, and continue to offer the most advanced medicine and treatment options available.
