New Britain Borough Declares Snow Emergency Ahead Of Storm

The mayor of New Britain Borough has declared a snow emergency from 10 a.m. Wed., Dec. 16 to 4 p.m. Thurs., Dec. 17.

NEW BRITAIN BOROUGH, PA — In anticipating of a winter storm that could bring more than a foot of snow to the region starting Wednesday, New Britain Borough has declared a snow emergency.

The ordinance takes effect at 10 a.m. Wednesday and lasts through 4 p.m. Thursday. Drivers are not allowed to be parked on the side of the road during this time to allow for snow lowing.

Advanced Disposal will begin trash and recycling collection at 3 a.m. Wednesday and complete before the storm begins.

The borough offices will be physically closed on Wednesday, but the borough manager will be returning calls and answering emails.

A winter storm warning remains in place from 10 a.m. Wednesday through 10 a.m. Thursday. Snow could be heavy at times late in the afternoon into the evening, according to the National Weather Service.
