LANSDALE, PA —Local Tap, a taproom featuring beers by Doylestown Brewing Co., is gearing up for its opening date.

The taproom will open up its doors for a soft opening this weekend on Saturday, Oct. 12. The plan is for the soft opening to continue for a few weeks before a grand opening event on Nov. 2.

The bar will feature 24 taps of Pennsylvania-based beers. Doylestown Brewing Co. will be the primary source of craft beers.

Theresa Modestine is opening the business on Broad Street in Lansdale with her five children. The Doylestown Brewing Co. is owned and operated by her brother-in-law, Joe Modestine.

"We will take great pride in serving delicious locally-produced beverages, as we’ve always supported local businesses," said Theresa Modestine, one of the founders of the Village Tavern in North Wales. Her family also previously owned The Saloon in West Norriton. "We see this more as a tasting room for local beverages more than a bar and restaurant."

Modestine added that she hopes the atmosphere is family friendly. They're also planning unique touches on the interior, including period photos from around Lansdale that showcase the growth of the community.

"We named our new business Local Tap because we want to connect everything with the community," Modestine added. "Lansdale is a growing, affluent community attracting new families and retaining longtime residents who seem to love the recent explosion of new businesses, and we’re excited to get open and give back as much as we can."

Other features include WiFi, charging stations, games, a private party room, four big screen TVs, and more.

The facility had a quick turnaround, with photos of restoration showing an open ceiling, missing wall panels, and hanging wires as recently as early September. About a month later, things are shaping up quite nicely:

In addition to beers from the Doylestown Brewing Co., spirits from Lansdale's award-winning Boardroom Spirits and Phoenixville's Bluebird Distilling will be offered.

Beyond just alcohol, there will be snacks on site like hummus, pretzels, cheese, and tomato pies from Corropolese Italian Bakery & Deli. Coffee from Lansdale's Backyard Beans, kombucha, local pastries, cinnamon buns from Chestnut Hill's Barry Buns, and ice cream from Merrymead round out the offerings.

On weekends, Local Tap also plans to designate a server to run food from nearby restaurants and take out spots back to customers.

Several events have already been scheduled at Local Tap, including monthly open mic nights, the Tube Top Mamas on Nov. 9, and an 80's trivia night on Nov. 14.

Local Tap is currently hiring bartenders, according to a job posting on Facebook. Candidates must have experience as a mixologist with "excellent knowledge of mixing, garnishing and serving drinks." Interested applications should submit a resume to LocalTapPA@gmail.com.

Once open, their hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
