Matthew M. Martin, of Hartsville, was fatally injured in a work related accident on December 6, 2018 at the age of 25. Matt had a personality so big that it couldn’t be confined to a small group of friends, so he befriended the world. He is survived by his parents John and Sharon (nee Cost) Martin; girlfriend of 7 years Jenn Souder; sisters Jaimee (Patrick) and Kelsee; nephew Wyatt; and grandmother Shirley Wilks. Staying true to his roots he developed his talents of working with his hands and operating various types of machinery.
After graduating from Central Bucks South High School and Middle Bucks Institute of Technology in 2011, he began his career at PennDot as part of the road crew and a Class B Operator. He then joined the T.S. Hess & Sons Excavating team, where he embraced all aspects of this labor intensive industry. When Matt entered the shop every morning, there was no escaping his loud voice or his big bear hugs.

Matty was a character that lit up every room he walked into with his sarcastic banter and cheerful attitude. He lived a life full of adventures, extensive hobbies, happiness, love, and the ability to be true to himself completely with no apologies… he was larger than life. His escapades in the mountains were his form of release where he could live in the moment with family and friends.
Matt will be remembered as a ridiculous, crazy, funny, gritty, over the top, kind hearted, drop everything to come lend you a hand, have your back no matter what, hard-working kind of man.
