Paratrooper, Doylestown Native Dies in Training Exercise

Nicholas Roberts, 27, died last week in a training exercise at Fort Bragg, N.C.

An 82nd Airborne Division paratrooper and native of Doylestown died last week in a training accident at Fort Bragg, N.C., according to the Orlando Sentinel.

The report states that Nicholas Roberts, 27, who lived in Florida before joining the 82nd Airborne Division in December, died on April 28 during practice jumps over the base. The accident is still under investigation.

Col. Curtis Buzzard told the Orlando Sentinel, “Spc. Roberts was a tremendous young man. We were all saddened to hear of this tragedy and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”

According to the report, Roberts served in Afghanistan and Africa as a military police officer. His mother, Kathryn, lives in Sellersville, the report stated.
