BUCKS COUNTY, PA ? Motorists in Bucks County can expect delays and detours due to the following road and bridge repair projects taking place throughout the county:

Uhlerstown-Frenchtown Bridge Closure

The Uhlerstown-Frenchtown Bridge will be closed and detoured through November for a multi-faceted rehabilitation of the 93-year-old steel-truss bridge. Detour routes are posted. The bridge's walkway has also been closed until late summer. The closure means that pedestrians and bicyclists will be unable to cross the bridge until a new widened walkway gets installed later this year as part of a rehabilitation project now underway at the bridge. At this time, the goal is to get the walkway replacement work completed in time for Frenchtown?s Riverfest, an annual street fair held on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. The project's primary focus this spring will be the cleaning of the bridge down to bare metal with repairs being made where needed. A three-coat paint system will later be applied followed by electrical and lighting work. A project-specific webpage has been established on the commission?s website and may be accessed directly through this link: https://www.drjtbc.org/project/frenchtownbridge. Motorists are urged to reduce speeds and exercise caution whenever traveling through active work zones. All dates and times for travel restrictions and project activities are subject to change due to weather, emergencies, and other factors.

Roadway Resurfacing In Middletown, Northampton

Roadway resurfacing continues through Monday, March 31 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the following roadways: Route 213 (Maple Avenue/Bridgetown Pike) between Bristol Road and Old Lincoln Highway in Northampton, Middletown and Lower Southampton townships. Brownsville Road Bridge Replacement

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will begin Monday, March 31, on a $12.1 million project to replace the Brownsville Road bridge over Neshaminy Creek in Lower Southampton and Middletown townships. Under this project, PennDOT?s contractor will replace the existing 68-year-old concrete box beam bridge. The new structure, measuring 278 feet long and 41.375 feet wide, will be approximately 24 feet longer and 9.875 feet wider than the existing bridge. In addition, the vertical alignment will be raised over Neshaminy Creek to provide an adequate waterway opening and to slightly improve the existing sight distance on both approaches to the bridge. In addition, the new structure?s design allows for one less pier than the existing structure to improve the flow under the bridge. Other construction includes widening shoulders to improve the intersection sight distance, improving stormwater management, resurfacing the approach roadway, and installing partially grouted riprap for scour protection at the piers and abutments. Beginning, Monday, March 31, through fall 2026, Brownsville Road will be closed 24/7 between Creek Road and Periwinkle Avenue.During the closure motorists are directed to use Brownsville Road, Bristol Road, (Route 213) Bridgeton Pike/West Maple Avenue, and Old Lincoln Highway. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Langhorne-Yardley Road Improvement Project

Construction continues on a new $10.6 million project to realign Woodbourne Road at its intesection with Langhorne-Yardley Road and to construct a roundabout at Langhorne-Yardley Road and Bridgetown Pike. Motorists are advised of a weekday travel restriction through late April, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Woodbourne Road between Kilburn Road and the Core Creek Park driveway entrance and on Langhorne-Yardley Road between Bridgetown Pike and Briggs Road. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent. Under this contract, PennDOT?s contractor will construct a single-lane roundabout and realign the roadway; install upgraded traffic signals, stormwater management, ADA curb ramps, signage, and lighting; perform resurfacing operations; and improve mobility for pedestrians and bicyclists. The existing signalized T-intersection at Langhorne-Yardley Road and Bridgetown Pike will be replaced by a single-lane roundabout. The proposed roundabout will help decrease vehicular speeds while improving safety and traffic flow. Motorists will be directed to use a detour route once the roundabout construction begins. Improvements at the Langhorne-Yardley Road and Woodbourne Road Intersection include realigning the northern leg of Woodbourne Road and constructing auxiliary turn lanes on all four approaches. In addition, the eastern leg of Woodbourne Road will be widened to allow for a left turn lane on Langhorne-Yardley Road approaching Erica Drive. Other enhancements on Langhorne-Yardley Road at the intersection approaches between Bridgetown Pike and Woodbourne Road include minor vertical realignment to improve sight distance and widening of lanes and shoulders.
