Space-Themed 'Crafternoons' For Kids Planned At Mercer Museum

Children can create space-themed crafts inspired by the museum's major summer exhibit, Making Astronauts: Bucks County to the Moon.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Mercer Museum is planning two “To the Moon Crafternoons" this summer. The first one will be held this weekend, on Sunday, June 23.

A second "Moon Crafternoon" will be held on Aug. 18 Both events go from 1 to 3 p.m.

"During these drop-in crafting afternoons, children will create space-themed crafts inspired by
the museum’s major summer exhibit, Making Astronauts: Bucks County to the Moon.

The exhibit highlights the extraordinary role of the Warminster-based Naval Air Development
Center (NADC) Johnsville in America’s early space program, the museum explains.

"From Mercury to Apollo, the NADC helped train the astronauts who ultimately achieved putting a man on the moon by the end of the 1960s," information from the museum said.

“We are looking forward to engaging families in some space-themed fun so close to the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo space missions, and providing new opportunities for families to
connect to the museum,” said Marjan Shirzad, Vice President of Community Services and
Marketing.

Entrance to the “To the Moon Crafternoons” is included with admission to the Mercer Museum. The Mercer Museum is located at 84 S. Pine St.
