Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest: Warrington Crime Report

Police charge Warrington man with violating judge's no contact order, make two arrests for retail theft and receiving stolen merchandise.

WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA ? The Warrington Township Police Department reported the following arrests between Jan. 28 and Feb. 8:

January 28

  • An officer on patrol conducted a registration check on a vehicle traveling north on Easton Road. The check revealed that the vehicle?s registration was suspended due to an insurance cancellation. The officer initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as a 34-year-old woman from Middletown, Delaware. During the stop, the officer observed signs of narcotic use. A subsequent investigation uncovered narcotics and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The woman was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while operating privileges were suspended or revoked.

  • At approximately 3:13 p.m., police were dispatched to Wegmans located at 1405 Main Street for the report of a retail theft in progress. When police arrived, they were told by the store's loss prevention employee that they had observed a man selecting merchandise and concealing the items in reusable bags. The employee told police that the man passed all points of sale and left the store through the main exit, failing to pay for the concealed merchandise. The man was stopped by loss prevention and was detained until police arrived. Total amount of the items taken was $192.85. The incident was captured on closed circuit TV. Police placed the 48-year-old Philadelphia man in custody and transported him to police headquarters where he was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property.

February 7

  • A 41-year-old Warrington man was charged with contempt for violation of a no contact order. The man had been previously arrested on Jan. 28 for theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. During his arraignment the judge advised him not to have any contact with the victim. Police said the man violated the judge?s no contact order by calling the victim numerous times and leaving messages. In one of the phone calls, police said the man asked the victim to drop the charges.

  • Police responded to Wegmans for the report of a retail theft. Loss prevention informed police that a 60-year-old woman had selected 48 items worth $225.98 and proceeded to self-checkout where she was told she had too many items. She then proceeded to another checkout line but left and returned to the self-check-out again. Store security said she continued to use the self-checkout anyway after being told a second time. According to the store, she allegedly scanned 19 of the 48 items and failed to scan the rest. She then exited the store without paying for the $159.63 worth of merchandise that was concealed. She was placed under arrest by police and charged with receiving stolen property and retail theft.
