Weekend Nor'easter: Here's What To Expect In The Philly Area

The storm is forecast to strengthen as it tracks across the Mid-Atlantic Saturday. Here's what you can expect in the Philly area.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A Nor'easter storm moving over the Philadelphia region will make for a wet and windy start to the weekend. According to the National Weather Service, expect gusty winds and heavy rain across eastern Pennsylvania Friday night into Saturday.

However, our region will be spared the heavy snow that the storm will bring to parts of New England.

The storm, which is developing in the southeast, will evolve into an "intense" Nor'easter on Saturday. It is forecast to strengthen as it tracks across the Mid-Atlantic Saturday morning.

According to AccuWeather, the storm will begin strengthening Friday evening, bringing drenching rain and thunderstorms to the mid-Atlantic region. "Then rain and thunderstorms are likely to erupt across the Interstate 95 corridor of the mid-Atlantic and southeastern New England from Friday night to Saturday," AccuWeather said.

The storm's northwest flank will usher in a cold front, bringing a "reinforcing shot of cold air" to the interior Northeast.
