2 From Horsham Die With Coronavirus

HORSHAM, PA — Two men from Horsham have died from coronavirus, officials announced on Tuesday, bringing the total number of deaths in the Montgomery County to eight.

The victims are both men, ages 75 and 66. Both men were hospitalized at the time of their deaths, and both had underlying medical conditions, officials said.

"We are very sorry and extend our condolences to the families and loved ones of these two individuals," Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh said at a press conference Tuesday.

The county's number of cases rose by 58 on Tuesday, bringing the overall county total to 564. Six of the county's new cases were children, including a 3-month-old, officials said.

Previous deaths in Montgomery County included an 82-year-old Springfield Township woman, a 95-year-old Cheltenham man, 61-year-old Norristown woman, a 62-year-old Whitemarsh man, and two men from Abington, ages 72 and 84.

Lower Merion remains the Montgomery County municipality hardest hit by the virus, with 107 positives as of Tuesday afternoon. Abington (44), Cheltenham (38), Lower Providence (29), Springfield (22), and Whitemarsh (21) follow.

The state's case count is up by 4,000 in just a week. On March 24, Pennsylvania reported a total of 851 cases and seven deaths.
