Dental Clinic Offering Montco Kids Free Care

SOUTHAMPTON, PA — Next month, a dental clinic in Southampton will be seeing kids for free.

HealthLink Dental Clinic is offering children from Bucks and Montgomery counties free exams and dental sealants on Saturday, April 4. The offer is open to children 14 and under.

There is limited space and appointments are required.

HealthLink Dental Clinic staff will be joined by volunteers and students from Manor College's dental hygiene program to offer the once-a-year service.

"Sealant Saturday," as it's known across the state, is supported by the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists Association. Dental sealants are thin coatings that, when painted on the surfaces of the back teeth, can prevent cavities for years.

The rest of the year, HealthLink Dental Clinic provides free dental care for adults who are uninsured, low-income or military veterans.

Since opening in 2001, it has provided free dental care to nearly 24,000 people.

"HealthLink Dental Clinic enjoys the opportunity to open our doors to local families for our annual Sealant Saturday program," said Raquel Braemer, executive director of the clinic. "The event not only grants free access to exams and sealants for children under 14 years old, it also affords our staff and volunteers an opportunity to interact with the whole family to provide oral health education and referrals to other community resources."

Parents and caregivers will be encouraged to determine their own eligibility for free dental services at the clinic while visiting with their children. Staff and volunteers will be on-site to give tours, provide information, and encourage good oral health habits.

HealthLink Dental Clinic is funded entirely by charitable contributions from the community.

The clinic is located at 1775 Street Rd. in Southampton.
