Hatboro Man, Vietnam Vet, Passes At Age 70

Hatboro's Benjamin Powers, 70, loved to travel with his wife, Patty. He is remembered for his kindness and "huge heart."

HATBORO, PA — Benjamin F. Powers, Jr. of Hatboro passed away on June 20, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 70. He was the devoted husband of Patricia Powers who predeceased him in 2013. They were married for 27 years at the time of her death. He was born in Philadelphia, PA the son of the late Margaret Murray Powers and Benjamin F. Powers Sr.

After graduating from Bishop McDevitt High School, Ben joined the United States Air Force where he served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1971. Ben spent many years working for Laneko Precision in the Aerospace field. He enjoyed traveling with his beloved Patty. They spent much of their time together traveling the world. Ben had a huge heart and would help anyone in need in the blink of an eye and he will be greatly missed.

Ben is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jewel and Peter Plasmier Sr. of Leesburg, VA, nephew, Peter Plasmier II (Donna) of Leesburg, VA, nieces Margaret Plasmier of Fredericksburg, VA and Judith Plasmier of Purcellville, VA as well as great-nieces and a great-nephew.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Monday, June 26th after 10 a.m. in Schneider Funeral Home, 431 N. York Road, Hatboro with a prayer service at 11:30 a.m. His interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Gilda's Club Delaware Valley, 200 Kirk Road, Warminster, PA 18974.
