Lehman UMC remains open, but worship cancelled for 2 weeks

Here is a letter delivered to Lehman UMC members:

Dear Lehman Church Members and Friends,

In light of yesterday's coronavirus directives from the Governor's office, and according to the recommendation of our Bishop, and after staff and Church Council agreement, and in the best interest of our church family and community, Lehman Memorial United Methodist Church has decided to cancel worship services for the next two weeks. We are currently developing a communication plan to share worship online by video (possibly a live stream) and through written materials. Please be patient with us as we endeavor to do this well and work out the details. We will send directions on how to join in on virtual worship tomorrow.

While we choose to cancel worship services, Lehman remains open for business, including small groups and other group gatherings as appropriate. There may be some who are uncomfortable attending these, and so leaders will connect with their constituents and make decisions as seems best. For example, Pastor Nancy will be talking with her Bible study about participation before modifying when, where, and how it meets.

Other ministries:

• The food pantry will be closed
• Wednesday's community dinner will be a take out event; the first 30 people who drive up starting at 5 p.m. will receive a meal
• The Lehman Lenten Luncheon Lectures remain scheduled, dependent upon whether there is enough leadership to make them happen

Please call the church office for updates or information, 215-675-2110, during normal business hours. Messages will be checked regularly. Updates will also be reflected on the church Facebook page. The pastors can be contacted directly for appropriate reasons in the normal ways. Lehman staff are here for you!

Please pray for the most vulnerable, our church and our community during this anxious time while we remember the steadfastness of God in the midst of any situation! We'll be in touch with more information soon!
