Power Restored After Horsham Outages

Police on Wednesday urged families to have a plan to weather the storm if they are hit with lengthy power outages in the future.

HORSHAM, PA — Authorities in Horsham reported Wednesday that power has been fully restored after weather-related outages on Tuesday.

An outage Tuesday in the Saw Mill Valley section of Horsham knocked out power to more than 260 homes, according to Horsham Community Police Services. PECO said power to most of those home had been restored by late Tuesday evening.

PECO's outage map showed no lingering outages in the Horsham area Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday, Horsham Police were responding online to comments saying it seems that Horsham has more than its fair share of power outages.

"Friends, that is only because we report them here on our page," the Horsham Community Police page wrote on Facebook. "Horsham has no more and arguably fewer outages than many municipalities our size here in South Eastern PA. Outages in other municipalities simply go unreported here so it may seem to those who follow our page that we have a larger number here in Horsham. Overall we do not."

The most common reason for power outages, police wrote, is severe weather, like the severe thunderstorms that have rolled through the area this week. Police urged families to have a plan for how to weather the storm if they're hit wit hours-long, or days-long, outages.
