Bristol Firefighter Killed In Hit-And-Run; Police, DA Seek Info

Daniel Santiago, 53, was struck while biking on Route 13 early Tuesday. Police are investigating and ask for leads at 267-812-3053.

BRISTOL, PA — Daniel Santiago, a volunteer firefighter and Bristol Borough resident, was killed in a hit-and-run while biking on Route 13 Tuesday morning, police said. He was 53.

Santiago was a lifetime member of Goodwill Hose Company's Station 52. The station commemorated him in a tribute online.

"If you see Danny’s social media pictures, you will see him wearing his station shirts or gear or around one of the trucks or just at the station," the post read. "Danny truly enjoyed being a member of the fire department. And the fire department enjoyed having him."

Police are still searching for the vehicle they say struck Santiago at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday and left the scene. Any involved vehicle will likely have front-end damage, the DA said.

"As a firefighter, Danny spent hours helping others on the same road he was tragically struck," Station 52 wrote, imploring those with information to reach out to the Bristol Township Police Department.

Bristol Borough residents are mourning Santiago's presence in the community.

“He’d come cook rice and beans and taught me how to make it,” Lori McKelvey, a friend of Santiago's, told LevittownNow. "I heard from him Saturday and he said he’d come visit and give me a hug before I moved and that he loved me."

The Bristol Township Police Department asks anyone with information to reach out to Sergeant C.J. Winik or Officer Pat Kitchenman at 267-812-3053 or cwinik142@bristoltpd.org.
