Bristol Riverside Theatre Plans Online Summer Music

Featuring classics from Broadway, the theater's summer series will be a mix of live and recorded performances streamed online.

BRISTOL, PA — Bristol Riverside Theatre will be streaming its summertime music series into your homes this year in hopes of keeping patrons entertained and keeping the theater operating as well.

The theater will be sharing both live and recorded versions of its summer series online. Three shows are planned.

"From Phantom to Mame" will be posted on July 1, 10 and 12, featuring songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jerry Herman. Next, "A Night at the Movies" will be Aug. 5, 7 and 9. The series will conclude with a "Broadway Summer Spectacular" on Sept. 2, 4 and 6.

The first date for each show will be a live performance and the additional two shows will be recorded broadcasts of the first.

"We wanted to find a way to keep a connection to our audiences," said Bristol Riverside Theatre artistic director Keith Baker. "I hope audiences continue to enjoy our Summer Music Fest — this time from the comforts of wherever they are.

"This will be an adventure. I wish I could have everyone in the room. Our performers are super talented. I can’t wait to see what they do with this format. The show must go on and we can’t thank everyone enough for their ongoing support of our work."

The band behind all three shows will be led by Baker, who also serves as host and music director for the shows. Performers will feature a who's who from the local stage and from Broadway.

Tickets for the series will help keep the theater's doors open and raise funds to help reopen later this year. Tickets are $35, or you may subscribe to all three for $90.

After each purchase, the buyer will be sent a YouTube Link prior to the performance. Tickets are available online at Bristol Riverside Theatre's website or over the phone at 215-785-0100.

The Summer Music Fest is sponsored by William J. Salerno and Juniper Communities with special thanks to The Grundy Foundation.
